Why should I use Door2DoorStorage

Door2DoorStorage has a unique approach to student storage. We work WITH our customers and treat them fairly and kindly no matter what. We do not have unfair fees and our employees are enthusiastic and kind. We understand that finding a place to put all of your items is a stressful process – our goal is to make it easy, fun, and stress free! Our team is full of friendly, outgoing, and competent people offering a great service at a great price. Simply put, we are the student storage experts.

 

Where do you take my items?

We store items in a modern secure warehouse protected by 24Hr CCTV and Intruder Alert System.

LOGISTICS

Can I use my own boxes or store items that do not fit in boxes?

Of course, we store anything! Our packing supplies are optional so you can use your own boxes for our storage service or store items that are unboxed.

Do I have to be present for my storage pickup or drop off appointment?

You do not, but it is recommended! Many customers have friends or room mates sign for their storage if they need to catch a flight or cannot make their appointment. Friends can also collect boxes and other packing supplies for you if you cannot make it to our box delivery points.

When in my pickup time slot will you arrive?

We will send you an email the evening before your storage pickup and delivery appointment with a smaller time window of our arrival. If you live at a large dorm with many other customers or in a popular housing complex you can generally count on being at the beginning of the slot.

I can only be available for part of my time slot. What do I do?

When the email is sent the evening before with your estimated pickup or delivery time, you can always respond with the phone number of a roommate who will be available to sign for your storage if you cannot make the appointment. Remember that we cannot enter dorms, houses, or apartments or any of our locations without an escort.

I need a pickup or delivery time/date that is not on your schedule. What do I do?

At most of our locations we can work with you to set up a special pickup / return for a small fee (from £29.50). You can also leave your items in your room and have a friend or room mate escort us in during our normal pickup windows. Remember that we cannot go in to apartments or houses without customer escorts and we do not have keys to dorms at universities. Generally – we would be happy to help you out in pretty much any situation.

What if I need to sign up for your services at the last second or the day of my desired appointment? Is there a fee for that?

While we recommend signing up as early as possible to guarantee a pickup slot, we are very flexible and do not charge fees for last second signups! If there is room on our vans and in our warehouse we will find a way to pick up your items. We often work around the clock during the busy times so fill out a form and shoot us an email and we will do everything we can to make it work.

I need some items shipped home. How does it work and how much will it cost?

We can ship any box or luggage item for you! Just email us at info@door2doorstorage.co.uk for more details and prices.

Is there a weight limit on the boxes?

It is unsafe for our employees to lift boxes heavier than 25KG. Make sure to disperse the weight of books or other heavy items among separate boxes. Our boxes are strong, but rips or bursts can occur for very heavy boxes. There is a £10 fee for an overweight box and we may be forced to split the items up among separate boxes and you will be billed for storage accordingly.

PAYMENT

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards. We do not accept cash.

Are there any additional fees?

There are some additional fees for extra services or missed appointments. Generally – we work with our customers as much as possible to make everything go smoothly but sometimes things do come up. Please note that all fees listed here are subject to change based on scheduling and other circumstances. INSURANCE

What if you lose or damage my items?

We understand your life is often placed into the boxes we store, so we handle them with care! In the rare case we lose or damage your items – each box / item is automatically insured up to £100. To avoid damage be sure to properly pack your items. There are a few items that cannot be insured – listed below.

Are there any items that can’t be insured?

Yes there is! Improperly packed items, fragile items – glassware, crockery, TVs Musical Instruments, sentimental items, cash or currency, electronics not in original packaging etc. If you are storing fragile items, please make sure they are thoroughly bubble wrapped and carefully packed to ensure they are safe during transport.

BOXES AND SUITCASES

With our student storage service you can choose from two different sizes -

Standard – 51cm x 41cm x 31cm - Volume 65 Litres

Extra Large – 59cm x 40cm x 42cm - Volume 99 Litres  

It always helps to choose the box size that you can completely fill. For larger, lighter items like bedding and clothes try our Extra Large boxes.

All our boxes are included in our price. We will also send you a free roll of parcel tape. Choose however many boxes your require from the two different sizes and we will arrange to have them delivered to you on the day of your choice. Delivery Monday to Friday is FREE. If you want them delivered on a Saturday there will be a small additional charge.

Our boxes are high-quality, heavy-duty boxes made from double-walled, corrugated cardboard. We also give you super-strong packing tape, to keep your stuff extra safe

We would ask that you read through our packing tips to make sure that your belongings will be safe. Our drivers are strong, but they’re not superheroes. To protect their backs, we ask that you stick to a 25kg limit.

Yes of course you can. We are very flexible. All suitcases and holdalls must be stored in the appropriate suitcase/holdall bag/box which we will send to you FREE OF CHARGE.

The maximum dimensions for a suitcase are 80cm x 56cm x 40cm. The maximum weight for a suitcase must be no more than 25KG.

The maximum dimensions for a holdall are  58cm x 45cm x 30cm. The maximium weight for a holdall is 25Kg. 

If you miss your scheduled slot please email us to let us know as soon as possible. We will then re-book your pick up in again.

Urgent orders received, Monday to Friday (Excludes Bank Holidays), by 10am can be dispatched that day on a Next Day delivery. Urgent orders received after 10am will be dispatched on the next working day. For an extra charge we can deliver boxes on a Saturday.. Please contact us for details. 

PRICING AND PAYMENT

When you place your order we will also make a one-off charge which includes collection (from any UK Postcode Mainland Address) and re-delivery (to any UK Postcode Mainland Address).

Our minimum charge is £30 which includes Collection and Re-Delivery for any 2 items (Boxes or Suitcases).

Every additional item will be charged at the rate of £12 per item - (Box or Suitcase) 

Our minimum storage period is 12 weeks but you can store with us for as long as you require.

We start charging for storage from the date that we collect your boxes to the date that we return them to you.

Yes - you can store for as long as you want.
If your storage time is longer than 12 weeks then we will make an additional charge for every week or part week that you store with us.

Yes - we can also store other items up to 60cm x 60cm x 60cm so long as they are properly packaged and do not exceed our standard weight limit of 25kg.
If you have a requirement to store something that’s an odd shape and not in a box, please fill in this formand we will get back to you. 

We have partnered with Stripe to process all payments, enabling us to securely process payments from all major credit and debit cards.

If your storage time is longer than 12 weeks then we will make an additional charge for every week or part week that you store with us.

There is NO additional re- delivery cost. 

Please make sure that your boxes and suitcases are clearly labelled with your Name and Order Number so that we can identify them!

If you’re sending a suitcase or holdall, it’s a good idea to add a luggage tag with your details and the best way of sticking on the labels is by sticking them to the handle or anywhere that isn’t fabric. Don’t risk your label falling off, or we won’t be able to find your items. 

1. Food, perishable goods unless packed so that they are protected from and do not attract vermin

2. Antiques (breakable and fragile);

3. Items containing or made of glass (including mirrors);

4. Birds, fish, animals or any other living creature

5. Explosives weapons or ammunition

6. Any item which emits fumes, smell or odour

7. Combustible or flammable materials, liquids or compressed gases, including but not limited to, paint, diesel, petrol, oil, gas, artificial fertilizer or cleaning solvents

8. Chemicals, radioactive materials, biological agents

9. Toxic waste, asbestos or other materials of a dangerous nature Any other toxic, flammable or hazardous substance or preparations, classified as such under applicable law

10. Musical instruments in soft cases (hard travel cases are fine but we cannot insure them)

11. Illegal or stolen goods, drugs, pornographic material or any goods prohibited by the law or regulation of any government or public or local authority or goods that require special licence or government consent for export or import.

12. Money, deeds, securities, coins, cash or negotiable instruments (including cheques and any vouchers with a face value);

Please note that although we do accept some fragile items, including crockery, mugs etc., we cannot insure them. If you are storing fragile items, please make sure they are thoroughly bubble wrapped (multiple layers) and carefully packed to ensure they are safe during transport.

We do accept electrical items, but please note that we cannot insure them.

We reserve the right to open your boxes if we suspect that the contents are in breach of our Terms of Service. 

We ask that boxes and holdalls don’t exceed our maximum weight limit of 25kgs and that suitcases don’t exceed our maximum weight limit of 25kgs

COLLECTION

Please Read This Yes, of course. If you want to change the number of boxes you’re storing or you need to alter any specific collection instructions, please email us at info@boxistore.co.uk by 10am the day before your collection. If your collection is on a Monday, then get in touch by 10am the Friday before.

If you decide to change your collection date, please let us know as soon as possible and no later than 10am the day before your intended collection (likewise, get in touch by 10am Friday if it’s happening on the following Monday!) 

Please Read This We can collect your boxes from Monday to Friday. We’ll be with you any time between 9.00am and 6.00pm on the date you request. 

Please Read This We can collect your boxes from any mainland UK address; be it a residential address, a business address or your student halls of residence.

To ensure a successful collection first time, do make sure you enter your full address and an accurate postcode for where your boxes are. It can also really help if you tell us that your home is in a gated complex and the driver will need to ring your buzzer for access, or if you’re leaving your things with a concierge, or in reception.

Our standard collection includes pick-up from the ground floor.

If pick up is from your reception area please let them know that we are collecting your items.

Please Read This   Unfortunately we can’t guarantee that you’ll get a call from the driver as not all our drivers carry mobile phones, so we always try and make sure that we get as much detail as we can to make sure there aren’t any problems that would necessitate a call. To make everything run as smoothly as possible, please tell us any special delivery instructions when you place your order. Get in touch at info@boxistore.co.uk if there is anything that might make your delivery particularly tricky. 

Please Read This  So that your collection will be successful first time, please make sure you’ve entered your address accurately, with the correct postcode. Do also let us know any special delivery instructions, such as if you’d like us to pick up your boxes from a particular location, such as a garage, or if you’ve pre-arranged with a reception area to leave your boxes there.

If our driver or delivery partner is unable to collect your items due to insufficient address information or an incorrect postcode, or if you are not at home or not ready when the driver arrives, there will be a charge of £17.95 to rearrange your collection.

Should our driver or delivery partner be unable to reach you within the collection window, due to unforeseen circumstances, we will rearrange your collection free-of-charge. However, we do find that the vast majority of collections are successful first time.  

RE-DELIVERY

If you’re on the move, that’s not a problem at all. We’ll deliver your boxes to the ground floor of any address you like within mainland UK, be it a residential address, a business address or your student halls of residence. There are only some locations we can’t arrange delivery to, such as airports and train stations and some Scottish Highland Postcodes have an additional charge. All we need is a residential or commercial address and postcode.

Changing your address is easy just email us at info@boxistore.co.uk with your details and we will arrange everything for you.

Unfortunately we can’t guarantee that you’ll get a call from the driver as not all our drivers carry mobile phones, so we always try and make sure that we get as much detail as we can to make sure there aren’t any problems that would necessitate a call. To make everything run as smoothly as possible, please tell us any special delivery instructions when you place your order. Get in touch at info@boxistore.co.uk if there is anything that might make your delivery particularly tricky.

As soon as you know the date for return of your items please let us know. The more time we have to sort our re-deliveries the better..! We do require at least two to three full working days to prepare your box(es) for collection by our courier and these are then delivered to you on a next working day basis.

INSURANCE AND SECURITY

Yes we do. Every box/suitcase is covered for up to £100 both in transit and also in our warehouse. We currently do not insure fragile items, including but not limited to – any glass,glassware, crockery, TVs, Electrical Items, Light bulbs, Printers, Musical Instruments, Improperly packed items etc. If you are storing fragile items, please make sure they are thoroughly bubble wrapped and carefully packed to ensure they are safe during transport. We provide plenty of parcel tape with every order. Please make sure that every box is well wrapped with parcel tape especially on all the edges of the box.

All our storage is located at our storage facility with over 30,000sq ft of storage in our own modern warehouse and we have always placed an emphasis on safety and security.

1. Our warehouse has 24 hour Redcare intruder and fire security. This means that in the event of a break in or fire the emergency services are contacted automatically by an external service provider.

2. We have a 24 hour CCTV system that records all movements within our building on every floor and every corridor.

3. Staff trained to maintain and monitor all security services

4. Intruder alarm system on all doors & reception area

5. Fire & smoke alarm system throughout store

6. All stores monitored by Security Centre after trading hours

7. Staff walk-around before reception opens

8. Daily store patrols by staff

9. Staff walk-around before reception closes

10. Requirement for customer ID and proof of address

In addition each order is insured for up to £100 per box (subject to terms and conditions )
